John and Lile Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies and Barry Mills Hall ^{Commercial & Industrial}

E.S. Boulos was the electrical contractor for the construction of Bowdoin College’s John and Lile Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies and Barry Mills Hall (Mills Hall). Our crews installed the lighting, power, and fire alarm and lightning systems. The all all-electric building systems promotes a low net operational carbon footprint and powers the building through a fossil-fuel free approach.  

The 46,000-square-foot facility consists of two buildings that are independent in function but conceived as a pair and promote interdisciplinary collaboration: 

• The Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies, which houses the Peary-MacMillan Artic Museum and includes two exhibit spaces, archeology research and teaching labs, a classroom, and administrative offices; and  
• Mills Hall, which features a 60-person cinema classroom, four active-learning classrooms, 12 faculty offices, huddle spaces for faculty and student collaboration, and an event and catering space with 300-person capacity.
